Explain why abnormalities in the structure and function of the foot and ankle joint complex can present themselves as problems elsewhere in the body - Biomechanics Research Paper
Academic Level: Under-Graduate, Masters
Subject Area: Bio-mechanics
Explain why abnormalities in the structure and function of the foot and ankle joint complex can present themselves as problems elsewhere in the body. Illustrate your understanding by identifying two different scenarios that reflect two specific problems with either the foot and/or ankle joint complex and examine the impact on the whole body of each scenario. Compare different treatment approaches a chiropractor might use to manage each of the two scenarios and develop a short management plan for each problem.
Learning Outcomes Students will be able to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of bio-mechanical function and dysfunction and be able to apply it to a range static and motion palpation skills at each joint complex
- A firm understanding of neurobiomedical principles in relation to patient assessment and joint manipulation, and the application of biomedical concepts to the diagnosis and management of clinical presentations
- Competency in soft tissue techniques, articulatory techniques and thrust techniques
