You have been asked to produce a 3,000 word essay (+/-10%) referring to either one of the two scenarios below.
TASK
Option A)
Produce an essay providing a critical analysis of business ethics in Boohoo and recent claims that the company had links to modern slavery, with a specific focus on the organisations management of business ethics, corporate social responsibility, stakeholder engagement and triple bottom line sustainability.
Option B)
Produce an essay providing a critical analysis of a business ethics case, during 2020, in an organisation of your choice, with a specific focus on the organisations management of business ethics, corporate social responsibility, stakeholder engagement and triple bottom line sustainability.
Structure: Essay Format
You are required to decide on the appropriate structure and content but we would expect to see the following elements:
Introduction: address the question/aim of the essay, establish the approach that will be used to answer the question/outline the structure of the essay;briefly introduce key theory to be applied in the critical analysis; introduce the context (the organisation, the ethical dilemma that has arisen or initiative thathas been introduced);
Main body of the assignment: you may wish to:
critically discuss the key ethical and sustainability challenges (perhaps outlining general themes and then focusing on the case example);
critically discuss the underpinning theory/theoretical framework (business ethics theory; (corporate) social responsibility theory; stakeholder theory;triple bottom line sustainability etc.)
apply the theory in your critical analysis and critical evaluation of the way in which business ethics, social responsibility, stakeholder expectations andstakeholder engagement and triple bottom line sustainability are managed by the organisation (using the current situation as an example)
demonstrate clear relevant theoretical underpinning and make reference to relevant and reliable academic sources. You should make use of academicreferencing using Harvard style
Conclusion: bring together your main points, make sure you have addressed the question and the key points raised in your introduction; you may wish to comment upon the relevance/usefulness or otherwise of the underpinning theory in critically analysing the case.
